Plan the Packing
Packing RVs is tricky because you have to be careful with weight distribution. You can’t just throw everything in wherever it seems convenient because the weight has to be balanced across the axles. To do this right, first take note of where the heavy appliances are located. If the fridge, water heater, and range are all near the nose of the trailer, you’ll probably need to put a lot of extra weight on the tail to counter those appliances. Make sure you balance from front to back and side to side.
Bring What You Need
Along with planning out your weight distribution, you need to figure out what you should take and leave behind. Remember, when towing a trailer, everything is weight, which is important to keep in mind because an extra hundred pounds could drastically affect how a smaller car handles your camper. You’d have to individually wrap each one in paper to avoid shattering, making them impossible to store in a small place and wasting a ton of your time. Instead, stick to plastic dishes and utensils that are light and can stack inside of each other easily. Also, make sure you bring all the necessary household cleaners and chemicals, like dish soap, sponges, glass cleaner, and an all-purpose cleaner. You don’t need anything elaborate while on vacation, so just store the absolute necessities under the sink.
Bedroom Furnishings
Bedrooms in RVs might be small, but you’ll still want to bring everything you need to be comfortable. You don’t need to bring three sets of sheets and comforters but don’t skimp on cozy blankets, pillows, and clothes. We recommend bringing just a few pairs of clothes that can be mixed and matched easily.
